(Friday, October 19, 2018) – Miami-Dade County Animal Services is providing free rabies vaccines for dogs and cats over the age of 4 months. Vaccinations are being offered October 28 – October 31 from 10 am – 3 pm at the North Dade Justice Center, 15555 Biscayne Blvd. Aventura, FL 33160.
The rabies vaccine will be provided daily for 100 pets on a first come first serve basis. Valid identification and pet’s vaccination history, if any, are required at time of service.
Rabies Alert in Miami-Dade County
The Florida Department of Health (DOH) in Miami-Dade County has added a second rabies alert for North Miami Beach. This is the eighth rabid animal (six raccoons and two cats) that has tested positive for rabies in Miami-Dade County. The DOH and Miami-Dade Animal Services are working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to identify any individuals who might have been exposed to the rabid animal.
The most recent rabies alert for North Miami Beach is issued for 60 days, ending on December 14. The Miami-Dade County boundaries for this alert are as follows:
- NE 186 Street to the north
- Royal Glades Canal to the south
- West Dixie Highway to the east
- NE 19 Avenue to the west
The first rabies alert for North Miami Beach ends on November 24. The Miami-Dade County boundaries for this alert are as follows:
- NE 163 Street to the north
- NE 151 Street to the south
- Biscayne Boulevard to the east
- NE 14th Avenue to the West
The rabies alert for Kendall is issued through November 15. The Miami-Dade County boundaries for this alert are as follows:
- SW 152 Street to the north
- SW 187 Street to the south
- SW 117 Avenue to the east
- SW 137 Avenue to the west
