(Friday, July 27, 2018) – At the June Sunny Isles Beach Commission Meeting, representatives from the architectural firm Perkins & Will presented design concepts for the interior space at Gateway Park. With more than 9,000 square feet to be developed, the architect envisioned a warm and inviting environment using comfortable lighting and a natural, light color palette. Some of the design amenities discussed include a residents’ lounge, tables for games, a group exercise room, classrooms for lectures or book groups, a meeting place for seniors, and charging tables.
The key design feature, however, is a 3,650 square foot “ballroom” with adjacent kitchen space. For the first time, the City will have the opportunity to hold events such as indoor concerts or movie nights, with the capacity to seat approximately 240 people. This room can also be rented for catered private parties with enough tables to seat 180 people.
The City Commission approved the plans and Perkins & Will were given the green light to move ahead with the project. We are very excited about this project and look forward to updating you as it progresses.
