Donations will be accepted online and at the event. Please note that a processing fee will be added to all online donations, therefore, we suggest participants make their donation at the event.
The City of Sunny Isles Beach is hosting its first Guinness World Record attempt, Angels in the Sand, on Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. along the Sunny Isles Beach shoreline. The event is benefitting the Broward Education Foundation, with all proceeds supporting the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund.
Guinness World Record Attempt:
Beginning at 4:30 p.m., participants are encouraged to line up along the beach from 191st Street and Collins Ave. to 183rd Street. At 6 p.m. sharp, the official world record attempt begins as participants form sand angels for one full minute on the beach.
All participants will need to check in by Lifeguard Tower No. 192 (accessible through the Bill Lone Beach Access on 191st Street & Collins Ave.) or Lifeguard Tower No. 182 (accessible through the Armani Casa Sales center at 18325 Collins Ave.) beginning at 4:30 pm. When you check in, you will receive a wristband and will be guided to a designated location for your sand angel.
Pre-Registration is now open. Stop by the SIB Government Center or Pelican Community Park, or register online to be part of this record-breaking attempt! Participation is free. A $5 donation is suggested upon registration, with all proceeds supporting the Broward Education Foundation and benefitting the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund.
Following the attempt, the City is hosting an after-party concert from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Samson Oceanfront Park, 17425 Collins Ave.
Free parking for the event is only available at the Heritage Park parking garage, 19200 Collins Ave., under the William Lehman Causeway, the SIB Government Center parking garage, 18070 Collins Ave., the NSE/SIB K-8 School parking garage, 201 182nd Drive. Overflow parking is at the Gateway Park parking garage, 151 Sunny Isles Blvd, with the SIBshuttle providing transportation to and from the event. Parking in private property is at your own risk. Parking in RK Plazas is subject to towing.
About the Marjory Stoneman Victims’ Fund:
Angels in the Sand is the final major fundraiser benefitting the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund with 100 percent of donations being distributed among the victims and their families. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund administers donations in a fair, transparent, victim-centered, and trauma-informed manner and will be used to assist families of the victims who were killed, the victims who were physically injured, and the victims who experienced psychological trauma while physically present on the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14, 2018 during the attack.

Post your most creative photos training for Angels in the Sand using #SIBSandAngels. One lucky participant will win an Amazon Echo. Contest ends Saturday, June 2 after the event and the winner will be announced on Monday, June 4. Participants must be at least 14 years of age to enter. Entries are accepted only on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using #SIBSandAngels. Winners will be notified via private message. Any winner under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign a release form in order to claim their prize.
