Work for the Collins Avenue Street Lighting Enhancement Project will begin on Monday, November 5 on the north end of Sunny Isles Beach. Work will take place on the west side of Collins Avenue in front of the Millennium Plaza and move south, block by block. The area being covered includes just south of the William Lehman Causeway to the Residence Inn Marriott (17700 Collins Ave.) This phase of the project covers street lights on the northwest side of Collins Avenue and is expected to take approximately one month. Once this phase is complete, work will begin on the east side of Collins Avenue, moving north, block by block.
- One lane ( on the right-hand side) will be closed during the daytime hours from 9 am – 3 pm, Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project.
- The sidewalk for the block being worked on will be closed during this time period.
- Driveways will still be accessible during work times.
The Collins Avenue Street Lighting Enhancement Project includes upgrades and replacement of landscape and streetscape lighting features along Collins Avenue. This project includes replacing the existing lamp posts with decorative lamp posts as well as adding more to provide a symmetrical layout on the east and west sides of the avenue based on light patterns.
