The WIC Program Continues Serving Families During COVID-19 Outbreak

(Monday, July 13, 2020) – The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County WIC Program has 15 WIC centers in Miami-Dade County that continue providing virtual services. Most services will be conducted by phone, email, mail or fax including eligibility determination, nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support, food package assignments, and EBT card issuance. Select number of clients may need to physically come into a WIC center if they have a specialized formula that needs to be directly provided to the client or if they are unable to send documents electronically. For in-person services, 9 WIC centers remain physically open. Visit miamidadewic.org for updated information regarding the WIC Program COVID-19 response.

Pregnant women and families with children under 5 who are experiencing a loss of income due to the COVID-19 crisis are encouraged to apply for WIC. Most benefits and services can be provided remotely. To apply, call the WIC appointment line at 786.336.1300. Due to a higher than normal call volume you may experience longer wait times. Our dedicated WIC staff are ready to help and serve the community.

WIC provides healthy foods, nutrition education and breastfeeding support to pregnant, recently postpartum, breastfeeding women, infants and children up to age 5 who meet the income criteria and are at nutritional risk.
