By Commissioner Dana Goldman
(Saturday, April 27, 2019) – My past years of service on the City of Sunny Isles Beach City Advisory Committee (CAC) have greatly informed me on City issues. The committee reports to the commission addressing specific issues, lends professional expertise and facilitates community discussion.
The CAC is a force for civic engagement. It’s a forum for residents to bring to the City’s attention to matters of interest and also serves as a catalyst for new citywide initiatives. It’s at the CAC where I first learned about our City in motion. Some of our ideas were later adopted by the Commission and are currently in place. We are now reinvigorating the CAC and its decade-long tradition.
The City is currently seeking volunteers for any of the CAC’s four suggested subcommittees:
- Quality of Life/Condominium
- Public Safety
- Social Welfare Issues
- Cultural and Community Affairs
Here’s a new idea for the fifth: Green Initiatives. We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers with a desire to contribute. Our residents have diverse skill sets, interests and experience. If you are interested, apply online at sibfl.net/committees by May 17, 2019.
I will serve as a liaison to the CAC, assisting the office of the City Manager to communicate CAC initiatives. The CAC Chair will report to the Commission on programming activities, initiatives, recommendations and related items. We look forward to your input and expect to be fully operational by summer 2019. It’s Wheels Up.
