Oceania Dune Restoration & ECOMMITTED Volunteer Activities
February 19, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Oceania Condominium and the City of Sunny Isles Beach, in partnership with Adopt a Dune and the Youth Environmental Alliance, will host a Dune Restoration and additional ECOMMITTED volunteer activities on the beach on Saturday, February 19 from 8 AM – 12 PM.
A community Dune Restoration will take place in front of Oceania Condominium. At the same time, the City will host a Beach Cleanup at Pier Park, as well as an additional dune restoration in front of Samson Oceanfront Park.
Dune restoration volunteers will assist with replanting the dunes with native plants. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for any, or all three of these activities. We encourage you to register online at the link below and select which activities you would like to volunteer for.
Parking
If you are participating in the Oceania Dune Restoration and/or the Pier Park Beach Cleanup, parking is available at the Gateway Park garage, 151 Sunny Isles Blvd. A shuttle will be available to take you from the parking garage to Pier Park.
If you are participating in the Samson Oceanfront Park Dune Restoration, parking is available in the municipal lot behind Walgreens (175 Terrace & Atlantic Boulevard).
The SIBshuttle provides free transportation within Sunny Isles Beach.
About Dune Restorations
Invasive species can disrupt the ecosystem of our beach’s dunes. It is important that these non-native plants be removed from our beach dunes and replanted with native plants. The City has donated $2,500 to the Adopt A Dune organization to assist Oceania with the funding of $6,000 worth of plant material to be planted by volunteers.
