Focus Group Meeting – Sunny Isles Beach Vision: Planning for Tomorrow

The City of Sunny Isles Beach will hold the third of three Focus Group Meetings on Wednesday, May 8 at 6:00 PM in the First Floor Meeting Room at the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center.

This Focus Group is comprised of diverse stakeholders selected to represent the community and its vision for the west side of Collins Avenue. Feedback received from the Focus Group will be consolidated with the input received from the other outreach efforts, to develop a vision document that will be the foundation for the future amendments to the zoning code and comprehensive plan.

Members of the public are invited to attend these meetings, listen to the conversation and participate by submitting responses via email or printed response forms that mirror the workshop questions. Please stay tuned for upcoming public outreach events, including open houses, the project website, and surveys.

The City is embarking on a project to establish a vision for the west side of Collins Avenue. This area has businesses, parks, our top-rated K-8 public school, homes, and places of worship. However, this area is subject to considerable pressure for change.

The City is taking the lead to create a plan for this area. This plan will determine how development projects should be built in the future, including how tall buildings can be, how many homes can be in one place, keeping pedestrians safe, helping businesses thrive, and more. This vision plan will then become the official rules of our Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code.
