Town Hall Meeting: Engaging Local Voices

Commissioner Jeniffer Viscarra will host a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 6:30 PM at Arlen House 100, 100 Bayview Drive.

Scott Dudley from the Florida League of Cities/Local Voices United (LVU) will be the guest speaker. He will discuss how to effectively engage state legislators on issues that are of concern to our community. Scott will also explain the principles of Home Rule and why it’s important to keep decision-making authority with the government that is closest to the people. In addition, Commissioner Viscarra will share how Local Voices United ties in with local advocacy efforts. The goal is to help Sunny Isles Beach residents become engaged citizens while new laws are being considered. The goal is not to disparage law makers with whom we disagree, but to engage in effective persuasion with civility and decency.

Snacks and refreshments will be served.
