Neat Streets Tree Planting Project

NEAT STREETS MIAMI GRANT:
The Neat Streets Grant provides funds for municipalities and organizations in Miami-Dade County to plant trees. This year, the City of Sunny Isles Beach was awarded a $14,000 grant.

TREE PLANTING LOCATION:
Over the summer, 49 trees were planted along 172 street, 182 Drive, 181 Street and North Bay Road. By the end of 2018, a total of 181 new trees have been planted.

PROJECT GOAL:
To provide a safer and enhanced pedestrian route as an option to Collins Avenue, improve the sidewalk experience, increase shade, lower sun exposure, and improve transportation.

PROJECT TIMELINE:
The second phase of the City’s Tree Planting project began at the end of May 2018 and was completed in October 2018.

ABOUT NEAT STREETS MIAMI:
Neat Streets Miami is a multi-jurisdictional county board dedicated to the maintenance and beautification of transportation gateways, corridors and connections. Launched by Neat Streets Miami, the Million Trees Miami Campaign is a community-wide effort to plant 1 million trees by 2020 in order to achieve a 30% tree canopy cover for Miami-Dade County.
