Vice Mayor – Alex Lama

Biography

Alex Lama was born in Michigan, raised in El Salvador and has called Sunny Isles Beach home since 1988. He graduated from North Miami Beach Senior High School and continued his education at Florida International University where he obtained a major in advertising and a minor in marketing.

He is an advertising executive with over 20 years of experience and has worked for the biggest media and telecommunications companies such as ESPN/Disney, Viacom, Universal Studios and Telefonica. He currently heads his own media representation firm.

Alex has been an active member of the community with his involvement in the NSE/SIB K-8 School Parent Teacher Association, the Sunny Isles Beach City Advisory Committee and his local church. As a proud father of two children with his wife Rocio Sylvia Lama, Alex believes it is important to be an involved and informed citizen in order to help our community and ensure that our seniors and youth continue to live in a great city.  His love of this city and passion to help the community sparked his interest to run for City Commissioner so he could now continue to serve the residents as an elected official.

Alex enjoys learning the piano, exercise and family road trips.
