FDOT Public Meeting

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host an in-person and virtual public meeting on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, from 6 – 7:30 pm for the SR 826/Sunny Isles Boulevard/163 Street Intracoastal Waterway Bridge Rehabilitation and Roadway Project, from NE 35 Avenue in North Miami Beach to SR A1A/Collins Avenue in Sunny Isles Beach.

The in-person public meeting will be held at Gateway Center, 151 Sunny Isles Boulevard in Sunny Isles Beach. Limited space is available. All current CDC guidelines will be observed.

Project Information

The estimated cost for the project is $10.8 million. Work began in August 2021 and is expected to be completed by spring 2023. Please note that this schedule may change due to bad weather or other unexpected conditions.

Proposed improvements over the Intracoastal Waterway include: repairing structural, mechanical and electrical bridge components, painting the structural steel, replacing the deck, and upgrading the emergency bridge generator and fuel tank.

Roadwork to be performed includes: repaving and restriping the road, enhancing pedestrian ramps and bicycle railings, reconstructing damaged concrete driveways and sidewalks, repaving the municipal parking lot at the Intracoastal Waterway, relocating the bus shelter on westbound SR 826, adjusting and/or constructing storm drains and manholes, renaming the existing “Business Loop” signage to “Gateway Loop”, reconstructing the traffic island at the intersection of SR 826 and North Bay Road and relocating the stop bar and stop sign, and replacing the traffic signal at the intersection of SR 826 and NE 35 Avenue.
