In 1997 The Miami Herald called Cesar A. Becerra an Everglades Evangelist. They weren’t far off for as long as he can remember he has been plying its waters, looking under its canopy of hammocks and cutting himself on too many blades of sawgrass to remember. The hows and whys and so whats about our ecosystem and the way we have engaged with it, is the subject of this talk. If you have been a far off armchair admirer or remember traversing swamps this is the talk for you to get reconnected with not only Everglades National Park and the greater Everglades ecosystem but the three other major national parks that surround us too.
