FPL Transmission Line Project to Commence April through July 2024

The below information is being shared on behalf of FPL.

“We understand how much you depend on reliable energy and we’re continuously working to make it better. In fact, we’re working on a project in your area that will help improve the reliability of the energy grid in good weather and bad.

This project will require transmission line pole maintenance and upgrades along the existing line to enhance reliability in Miami-Dade County. Please note that this work is unrelated to the ongoing overhead to underground conversion projects taking place in Sunny Isles Beach. The project is located south of Northeast 163rd Street, going east, before heading south for approximately 2.02 miles on Collins Avenue. The project is currently scheduled to begin in April and is expected to be completed by July.

In order to perform the pole replacement work, equipment bucket trucks, large lights and cranes will be necessary to access the power line pole structures. Due to system demands resulting from high energy usage during daytime hours, the majority of the work will take place nightly between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday. We pledge to work safely and respectfully in your community, as well as make reasonable efforts to minimize construction-related noise and any other inconveniences to you or your neighbors.

Alternate routes, indicated by road signs, will be established prior to closures and access to residences will be maintained. We will make every effort to minimize road and lane closures. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance with this project.

Should you have any questions concerning this project, please call 1-800-693-3267, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please refer to Greynolds-Haulover T21656 Pole Replacement and Maintenance Project.”
