Interactive Kiosks Push Sunny Isles Beach to the Forefront of Government Technology

Sunny Isles Beach installs first interactive touch screen kiosk at Samson Oceanfront Park

(Friday, March 16, 2018) – The City of Sunny Isles Beach is on the cutting edge of technology, forging ahead of other South Florida cities with the installation of interactive smart touch screen kiosks. On Thursday, March 15, the City unveiled its first SIB Interactive Kiosk at Samson Oceanfront Park, 17425 Collins Ave.

The 75-inch smart touch screens utilize more than 30 sensors to allow users a fast and easy interactive experience. Each kiosk contains a Wi-Fi hot spot, cell phone charging station and is ADA compliant.

“With the installation of our Interactive Kiosks, Sunny Isles Beach is now the smartest city in Florida,” says Sunny Isles Beach Mayor, George “Bud” Scholl. “We are able to provide up-to-date information and alerts in an easy-to-read platform, while also offering engaging interactive content such as games and selfies.”

The SIB Kiosk is loaded with helpful information including alerts and City contact information, an interactive City map, real-time community shuttle bus tracker, and detailed information regarding City parks, hotels, dining, shopping, attractions, and scheduled events in Sunny Isles Beach and around South Florida. Additional features include games and a selfie camera allowing park goers to save and share memories. The City plans to install its second Interactive Kiosk later this month at their newest park, Gateway Park, 151 Sunny Isles Blvd.

In collaboration with SmartLINK, a technology startup company dedicated to bridging the digital divide and solving core information access issues across community environments, the Interactive Kiosks provide engagement, messages, security and intelligence through next-generation infrastructure solutions.

SIB Interactive Kiosks are just one of the many innovations Sunny Isles Beach is implementing as part of the Mayor’s Technology Initiatives. With Soofa benches, solar electric powered charging stations, free Wi-Fi at nearly every park, the community shuttle buses and soon along the beach, an app to track the City’s community shuttle buses, PayByPhone parking, and an electric car charging station, Sunny Isles Beach is at the technological forefront in South Florida, embracing the swift rise of the digital age.
