Commissioner – Fabiola Stuyvesant

Biography

Fabiola Stuyvesant has been City of Sunny Isles Beach Seat 3 Commissioner since 2021. Since becoming a City Official, Fabiola has had the opportunity to join the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, the Florida League of Cities Federal Action Strike Team, the National League of Cities Women in Municipal Government Committee, and the Hispanic Elected Local Officials Committee. Prior to her election to the city commission, she served on the Sunny Isles Beach Historic Preservation Board from 2017-2019.

Fabiola, a Venezuelan native, graduated first in her class from the Universidad Santa Maria in Barcelona obtaining a degree in Economics in November 2000. She then went to work in the Petroleum Industry from 2001 to 2004. Fabiola started teaching at the Universidad de Oriente in 2001, becoming a Public Finance Associate Professor in 2003. She taught at the University until moving to Florida in 2007.

In her younger years Fabiola was the Vice-President of the Interact Club in Anaco, Venezuela. In 1993-1994, she traveled to Pennsylvania as a P.E.A.C.E Exchange Student Ambassador, and on her return became a volunteer translator for Operation Smile on some of their missions to Barcelona, Venezuela.

In the United States, Fabiola, a mother of four, rapidly became involved as a volunteer with different educational and cultural organizations. She was the co-leader of the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida Troop 538 from 2011-2016. Additionally, Fabiola has been part of the NSE SIB K-8 PTSA since 2010, serving many roles on the board, including 2020- 2021 First VP. She has been a parent representative for the Educational Excellence School Advisory (EESAC) at both Alonzo and Tracy Mourning High School and NSE SIB K-8, as well as the 2020 Vice Chair of the Citizen’s Coalition for Miami-Dade Public Schools. Today, Fabiola also serves as the Chair of the Miami-Dade Independent Women’s Network Chapter.
