Event to take place on Sunday, August 7
(August 4, 2022) – The City of Sunny Isles Beach, in partnership with the local non-profit Florida for Ukraine, is hosting a Ukrainian Refugee Assistance event on Sunday, Aug. 7 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Pelican Community Park (18115 North Bay Road, Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160).
Immigration lawyers, healthcare insurance agents, mortgage brokers, and educational professionals will speak at the event. Topics include Uniting for Ukraine program (U4U), Temporary Protected Status, government benefits, how to obtain medical insurance and Medicaid, real estate market, and educational opportunities, programs, and accommodations.
“Florida for Ukraine in partnership with the City of Sunny Isles Beach is glad to offer the educational event to refugees and their families regarding their next steps in US,” says Rafi Nagli, Florida for Ukraine’s president. “The event will cover all the questions refugees are seeking answers to and the information they will need very soon.”
As the war in Ukraine continues, Florida for Ukraine and the City of Sunny Isles Beach are partnering to provide refugees from Ukraine the support they need to adjust to life in the States. South Florida has become home to many Ukrainian refugees, and the community is stepping up to assist in any way they can.
The goal of the event is to provide Ukrainian refugees with the resources they need to start their new lives. With a strong foundation and network, South Florida is able to welcome refugees and support them through this transition. Florida for Ukraine is a non-profit organization founded by a group of patriotic, passionate, and resilient young professionals with ties to Ukraine now based across Florida. Together they are selflessly fighting with the sole goal of mobilizing people in support of Ukraine, amplifying their voices in Florida, and building a visible and impactful bridge between Florida and Ukraine in terms of humanitarian aid, diplomatic support, and information resources.
