Senator Gwen Margolis Park Renovation Updates

Senator Gwen Margolis Park Renovations

Current Updates: Installation of the new sports lighting system is complete and the soccer field is illuminated with energy efficient LED lighting. Renovations continue on the fence surrounding the field. The park remains closed during daytime hours until the project is complete.

The Senator Gwen Margolis Park soccer field is one of the most used facilities in Sunny Isles Beach.  The field is used by our extremely popular Youth Soccer programs with an enrollment of several hundred participants each year, as well as by park patrons on Saturdays and Sundays.

To provide a safe sports facility with ideal lighting for use during the evenings, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has installed state of the art Musco Sports lighting.

Musco is an industry leader in lighting, specializing in the design and manufacture of sports lighting solutions around the world.

The design for Senator Gwen Margolis Park features four towers using energy efficient LED lighting located around the perimeter of the field.

Through their innovative Total Light Control Technology, the lighting fixtures can be precisely aimed to create an even spread of light at an average of 30 footcandles over 133 specific points on the field while dramatically eliminating any impact to the surrounding neighborhood.

Closures During Installation

Because the safety for our residents and guests is of utmost importance, park amenities, including the sports field, playground, dog park and restrooms will be closed.  There will also be intermittent sidewalk and parking lot closures.

All Senior Programs scheduled for Margolis Park will be relocated to Town Center Park during the construction.
